Annual Deep Inspection (Professional Service)

Once a year, have a professional technician perform:

□ Gas lift load test: Test cylinder under maximum rated weight for 5 minutes

□ Mechanism disassembly: Clean, inspect, and lubricate tilt and recline mechanisms

□ Castor replacement: Replace any castors with flat spots or axle damage

□ Bolt audit: Tighten or replace all fasteners (chairs typically have 12–20 bolts)

□ Foam density test: Check if seat foam has compressed below 70% of original height

□ Mesh elasticity test: For mesh chairs, check if mesh rebounds or stays depressed

□ Base crack inspection: Check star base for hairline fractures (safety critical)

□ Upholstery deep clean: Professional cleaning of fabric, mesh, or leather

These issues require immediate removal from service:

• Cracked base: Can collapse suddenly under weight — safety hazard

• Gas lift that drops instantly: Complete seal failure — chair cannot be height-adjusted

• Broken wheel stem: Chair will tip when user shifts weight

• Exposed sharp edges from broken armrests or frames

Remove the chair from use and tag it for professional repair immediately.
